-----------------------
This is a work by Kusuo Baba, the second-generation master of Shinemon Kiln, one of the leading kilns of Arita ware.
Named "Wakaba no Koro," meaning "The Season of Young Leaves," this coffee cup and saucer features a gentle blend of clear blue-green and milky white, creating a fresh and luminous landscape reminiscent of newly emerging leaves.

Shinemon Kiln is renowned for its mastery of "Yohen," the art of transforming the colors and patterns of glazes through the unpredictable conditions inside the kiln. This piece was created by Kusuo Baba himself, the second-generation master of the kiln. The expressions produced by the temperature of the flames and the flowing and overlapping glazes are never exactly the same. This beauty born from chance is one of the defining characteristics of Shinemon Kiln.

As spring gradually gives way to early summer, young leaves emerge all at once beneath the gentle sunlight. This fleeting moment, filled with the vitality of new life, seems to have been captured within the vessel. Pale blue-green, white, and subtle hints of yellow softly melt into one another across the surface. The glaze landscape spreading across the saucer also reveals natural variations in tone and delicate crystal-like patterns, offering different expressions depending on where and how it is viewed.
Bright and refreshing without ever becoming overwhelming, "Wakaba no Koro" possesses a gentle quality that brings a sense of calm. The miraculous transformations that occur within the kiln leave each piece with a landscape that is truly one of a kind.

Created by an artist with exceptional mastery of glaze expression, this elegant coffee cup and saucer combines freshness with quiet refinement. Pour in your favorite coffee and enjoy a peaceful moment surrounded by colors as refreshing as the season of young leaves.
