A Work by Fukuji Kitamura ? Master of Arita Ware Artistry

This porcelain vase, crafted in the symbolic gourd shape, is the work of Fukuji Kitamura, a renowned master of overglaze painting and a leading figure in the world of Arita ware. Kitamura has long embodied both tradition and innovation in his craft. Though now retired from production due to age, his works continue to captivate audiences with their enduring beauty and refined sensibility. His creations, born from expert technique and a unique artistic vision, are truly timeless masterpieces.

The vase is adorned with vivid flowers painted in exquisite detail. Plum blossoms, cherry blossoms, and bamboo leaves bloom abundantly across curved sections that divide the vase’s surface, as if embracing the passage of the seasons in a single form.

The harmonious blend of blue, red, green, and white offers a different expression from every angle. Standing at 23 cm tall and 11.5 cm in diameter, it is compact enough for easy display, yet its vibrant colors and densely painted patterns give it a commanding presence. Merging the auspicious shape of the gourd with the beauty of Japan’s four seasons, this elegant piece makes for a highly appreciated gift or decorative highlight in any setting.
