A Masterpiece by Kosai Kasahara ? Leading Figure in the Art of Arita Ware

This luxurious square vase, crafted using the some-nishiki (underglaze and overglaze enameling) technique, showcases a fantastical landscape adorned with multicolored blossoms and elegant pavilions. The vibrant reds, blues, and shimmering gold are masterfully layered, creating a magnificent visual experience reminiscent of an unfurling picture scroll.

What makes this piece truly exceptional is its rare square form?an uncommon shape even among Arita ware. The uninterrupted, continuous painting across all four sides is a testament to the artist’s exceptional brushwork and compositional skill. Intricate details extend even to the base of the vase, demonstrating a deep commitment to beauty?even in parts not usually seen?making this piece a perfect fusion of function and form.

The pavilions, gracefully nestled among brilliant flowers, are traditional auspicious motifs symbolizing “prosperity” and “peace.” This distinguished work serves as a statement piece in any interior or a prestigious gift suitable for special occasions.
